ORI-OAI is a project designed by several universities. They realized they had same needs in terms of creation of institutional, scientific and educational repository and valorization of digital heritage. Therefore, they decided to merge their projects and to share their resources in a new project, ORI-OAI. Now, any institutions can participate and contribute.

ORI-OAI community

ORI-OAI community is composed of a consortium of members participating in development and of institutions using the tool.

  • The founders were supported quickly by institutional partners : the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the ABES, the French agency for higher education libraries. This support is renewed regularly, because the Government thinks that intellectual capital, its valorization and its use in the various activities of higher education are strategic.
  • The ORI-OAI consortium enters in an international partnership with the developers of a similar project in Quebec. Other partnerships focus on implementations of ORI-OAI in the world, particularly in the Mediterranean and French speaking countries.
  • Today, thirty institutions use ORI-OAI in France and worldwide, for various documents and in various ways. Most of them are referenced through the map of locations. This database also contains descriptions of ORI-OAI projects, which is a source of inspiration and advice for your own projects.

The initial phase of the project will end with the publication of ORI-OAI v2. Next, the tool will enter into a phase of generalization that will enhance access to resources of its users.

Contributors of ORI-OAI

All users of ORI-OAI can contribute to the project in two ways.

  • They can share all their useful informations for the realization of their project, from preliminary studies, needs analysis, specifications, configurations schemes for workflow and search engine, connectors and scripts. This documentation can be written directly into the wiki tool or uploaded as attached files.
  • They can also participate in the development of new features of the project both in terms of functional specifications and in terms of code development.

In addition, users are invited to submit their projects externally, in symposiums, seminars, etc..., and internally, in councils of their institutions. They can use this site and existing papers to present their digital heritage projects to strategic decision-makers of their establishment and to involve users in the process.
