ORI-OAI manages all digital productions of one or more academic institutions. It has all the features expected from a document management tool, already preconfigured for the most common academic resources.
Main features
Main features allow to make professional and networked referencing and indexing of any re:
-
creation of a common and consistent document repository for an institution or a group of institutions, that is the basic fundation to make digital heritage and assets usable;
-
full compatibility with OAI-PMH protocol for sharing digital resources, which allows a better distribution of internal and external resources;
-
very flexible document retrieval system, with several default search interfaces (simple, advanced, by subject, by author, by theme...)
-
management of lifecycle of documents by workflows, from creation to archives through referencement, indexing and publication;
-
long term archiving and storage of resources, which is the patrimonial purpose of the tool;
-
integration in information systems through adherence to standards and connection to other documentation and librarian tools.
Management, publication and valorization of digital resources
ORI-OAI is designed to handle all types of documents. As universities and colleges rarely want to manage "all types of documents" but only a particular production, default configurations were implemented for the most common resources.
-
Thesis can be managed according to the French standard Thèses électroniques françaises (TEF) through a simple circuit (single actor, usually a librarian) or complete (with all stages from upstream to downstream of the defense and with all stakeholders of the thesis: PhD student, supervisor, school, library ...) (in development).
-
Scientific publications and scholarly works (open archives) can be referenced by the Dublin Core and with the Dewey classification or a specific one, eg MeSH for medical resources.
-
Educational resources and learning objects can be managed through the standard Learning Object Metadata (LOM) and its translations and sub-versions (LOM-FR, SupLOM-FR). Three circuits are available by default: a very simple circuit, a simple circuit and a complete circuit, according to stakeholders.
-
Other library resources (work of students, administrative documents, websites, etc..) can be referenced by the Dublin Core and using the Dewey Decimal Classification (also used to index above documents). Two circuits exist by default: a very simple circuit where one person is involved and a simple circuit where a moderator valid, correct and complete inputs.
